   The third Easter Open at the Crawley Labour Club, sponsored by the John Smiths Breweries, proved another great success, with more than seventy entries from all over the South of England competing for prize monies in excess of £700.

  The Open title returned to Crawley  won by Diamonds & Sperry star Kevin Fishwick when he defeated the PDC’s Tony Ayres, Billingshurst by 3-0 in the final to take the £250 first prize. Tony Crawley’s peter Crossley  3-0 to reach the final, collecting the £125 runners-up prize. Kevin won his semi final by 3-2 against Ian Barrett, from Tonbridge

 Losing quarter finalists were Crawley players Colin Whiley, Gary Simpson , Rob Metcalfe and Jason Body, Surrey.

 The Ladies Singles final featured two County players and the first prize was won  by Sussex team manager Rhonda West, Uckfield defeating Surrey’s Louise Gray  by 3-0 in the final.

 Losing semi-finalists were Julia Saldanha, Worthing and Helen Jones, Brighton.

 Last year’s Open winner Kurtis Atkins made up for his early exit this Easter when he won the Youth event for the second time, beating Roffey’s Nathan Pearce by 2-0 in the final. Losing semi-finalists here were Louis Venes and Jordan Morley.

 The day’s events were concluded with the ever-popular Flying Pairs attracting 60 entries. The result was a unique double for the Open and Youth  winners, Kevin Fishwick and Kurtis Atkins partnered in the draw  to take the first prize of £100. In the final they defeated Kevin Clarke and Clive Pearce who collected £50. Losing semi-finalists were Stuart Campbell/Steve Mecrow and Paul Valentine/Dan Bradford.

 The club’s raffle raised £120 for local charities.
